Stayin’ Alive Personal Training was established by 63 year old trainer, Alan Edwards. Thirteen years ago, he was faced with most of the problems listed on our home page, and had the early stages of arthritis in both hips.

One Saturday afternoon he was lying on the couch listening to “Deaker on Sport”. Murray Deaker was speaking to a Personal Trainer about the benefits of weight training, cardio fitness and nutrition. It struck a chord with Alan so he contacted the Personal Trainer and began the journey to where he is today – a very fit, strong and healthy 63 year old.

The last thirteen years have not been without their set-backs. In 2001 he was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the hips, which led to a double hip replacement a year later. His surgeon gave him strict criteria: you must be as fit as you possibly can if you want this operation to go smoothly. So Alan got fit, had the operation, and six weeks later he was back playing golf, walking the course with his bag on his shoulder.

A few years later, he had a further set-back, when he was forced to undergo a full shoulder reconstruction following a nasty fall. While rehabilitating, he decided to turn his love of fitness into a full-time job, so trained and graduated as a Personal Trainer.

Alan has since gone on to set up Stayin’ Alive, and is providing personalised training service specialising in people aged 45+.
